All of our products must deliver on quality, both scientifically and ethically. As parents we want the best for our families. Every one of our products we create have to work and if we wouldn’t take it ourselves, give it to our parents or give it to our children, then we just won’t make it.

All our products must pass our AvaCare Promise - Are we willing to give these products to our own families? The answer must always be yes.

AvaCare products will never be tested on animals.

Banned Ingredients

AvaCare has a list of ingredients that will not allow in its products. These ingredients are outlined below. Please note this is not an exhaustive list and if you deem an ingredient harmful to the human body we would like to hear from you (please contact us). Here are many ingredients which would not be allowed.

Emulsifiers/Gums

Carboxymethylcellulose

We believe that if there are natural alternatives for us, why would we use this artificial gum?

Hydroxypropylcellulose

We believe that if there are natural alternatives for us, why would we use this artificial gum?

Polysorbate 20

Normally used on skin products and can produce allergic symptoms.

Polysorbate 80

Normally used on skin products and can produce allergic symptoms. Known for causing hypersensitive reactions.

Propylene Glycol Alginate

It has many possible health effects, including that it can affect the central nervous system of children and can cause problems with blood pressure and heart rate in vulnerable population.

Tragacanth Gum

Generally safe but needs to be taken with plenty of water as your intestines can be blocked.

Sweeteners

Acesulfame potassium

Can contain the carcinogen methylene chloride. Long-term exposure to methylene chloride can cause headaches, depression, nausea, mental confusion, liver effects, kidney effects, visual disturbances, and cancer.

Aspartame

Can cause abdominal pain, cramps, joint pain and headache.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Can cause some health problems such as fatty liver fat, obesity and weight gain, diabetes, or heart disease.

Saccharin

Can cause allergic reactions in children and pregnant women and produce headaches, breathing difficulties, or skin problems. It can cause muscle dysfunction in children.

Preservatives

Butylated Hydroxyanisole (BHA)

It is considered by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) possibly carcinogenic to humans. And the European Commission has placed BHA as a category 1 potential endocrine disruptor and may impact such organs as the lungs, liver, kidney and thyroid…

Butylated Hydroxytoluenne (BHT)

The European Commission suggests that BHT acts as a weak endocrine disruptor and may impact such organs as the lungs, liver, kidney and thyroid…

Ethanol

It can be toxic and affect low/high blood pressure as well as produce agitation or nausea.

Monosodium Glutamate

Can cause different side effects including headaches, sweating, numbness, tingling or burning in the face, neck and other areas, heart palpitations, and Nausea.

Potassium Benzoate

May cause urticaria or severe allergic reactions.

Potassium Bromate

Can affect your breath, skin, nervous system, kidneys and is considered a carcinogen.

Propyl Gallate

Is an irritant to the skin and eyes and a dermal sensitiser.

Sodium Benzoate

Can have side effects, including nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. When combined with Vitamin C can be dangerous.

Sodium Sulphite

Can produce dermatitis, urticaria, flushing, hypotension, abdominal pain, diarrhoea and asthmatic reactions.

Sulphur Dioxide

Highly sensitive asthmatic individuals can develop bronchospasm after consuming foods preserved with sulphur dioxide.
